Bony Macaroni:

There is nothing quite like an infectious melody, according to Bony Macaroni. The emo pop band from Arnhem has been in the business of producing earworms since 2019. Ever since their first release, they’ve been delivering them sweet ‘n fast, with the occasional dash of irony on the side. In 2023, they released their debut album ‘The Big Bucks’: an album about money, work and that ever present awareness of our impending doom. Bony Macaroni are no downers though. If anything, their shows are one big comradely sing-a-long, whether the ship is sinking or not…

Composed of Joe Blair (vocals, guitar), Ollie Clarke (bass, backing vocals) and Elias Brewin (drums, percussion), PLAY DEAD first burst onto the scene with cyclist punching tale ‘Shaun’ – entrenching support of tastemakers in press and radio. Conjuring scenes of carnage on the floors of basement venues with fellow high risers HotWax and Snayx, ‘Thameslink’ is PLAY DEAD’s first single since autumn 2022 with a busy tour and release schedule planned for 2024.

PLAY DEAD return with a middle finger to gentrification and paying £7 for pints as new single ‘Thameslink’ pulled up at the platform on Tuesday 16th January via Blitzcat Records.

The ‘less is more’ garage punk motif of the three-piece bursts at the seams in ‘Thameslink’ – channeling the immediacy, wit and raucousness of Amyl and the Sniffers, The Chats and early Arctic Monkeys in a pacy 3 minute stretch.

Explaining the frustration with everyday life that embodies ‘Thameslink’, singer Joe Blair reflects on the song’s composition as “essentially nailed on after I paid about £7 for a pint at my local pub. So I guess it’s a bit of a diss-track on London – being fed up with the trains, the price of beer and the day-to-day habits of the miserable commuter…”

HALF CAB is an alternative punk rock band from The Hague. Started in a bedroom during COVID, Timothy and Mert made plans for a new band; Joris and Louie made that band complete. Together they wrote and released their debut album ‘I’d Rather Be Dead Than 40’. Since then, the band has played with numerous bands including Narrow Head (in Paris) and Bdrmm (in Doornroosje) as well as their Dutch friends POM, Bony Macaroni, Two and a Half Girl and Call it Off. 2024 marks the year of new releases, starting with “Rearview” – the first single and title track of HALF CAB’s new EP – which can be found in playlists such as New Music Friday NL, All New Rock, All New Punk, adrenaline, New Alternative and more.
