Saxton Sunday Sounds:

Iedere derde zondag van de maand staat het Slachthuis in het teken van Saxton Sunday Sounds – met aandacht luisteren naar inspirerende singer-songwriters op uitnodiging van Sam Saxton. Mooie muziek verdient een podium én een luisterend oor, vandaar dat Sam een plek wil creëren waar met aandacht naar de muziek en het verhaal van de artiest wordt geluisterd. Het concept bestaat uit drie delen: Sam zal zelf de middag muzikaal openen en geeft daarna het podium aan een aanstormend ’talent’ uit de regio. Als finale zal een gevestigde artiest het programma rondmaken. Sam zal de middag hosten en de andere artiesten kort bevragen over hun schrijfmethodieken en inspiraties. Hierbij zal er extra aandacht uitgaan naar het favoriete album van de ‘hoofdartiest’. Waarom is juist deze plaat zo belangrijk geweest? Na afloop van de show zal het album onder het genot van een drankje integraal door het hele Slachthuis te horen zijn.

Melle:

Melle captures the essence of music with an unrefined, natural, and authentic sound, embodying a raw and youthful spirit. His music is organic and intentionally lacks polish, giving a sense of pure, unfiltered expression.

He’s inspired by Phoebe Bridgers, Sam Fender, Tom Odell and Julia Jacklin, but he grew up listening to bands like The Beatles, Coldplay and Abba which is why he instinctively writes songs with beautiful harmonies and recognisable melodies.

Melle is a real instrument collector, playing over 20 different ones on his debut debut album and stuffing his studio with a cimbalom, theremin, taishogoto, his signature ‘cigar box guitar’ and much more.This unique palette of textured sounds sets him apart most of all and so does his soothing voice that sounds as if he’s sitting right next to you on the couch.

In his songs he illuminates both the joys and challenges of relationships and shows his views on the problems of today’s society, like capitalism and inequality. His latest song ‘Living Like That’ demonstrates that perfectly: “It’s a song about our society, overwork, mental health, and the pressures of capitalism. In today’s world, people are often pushed to their limits until they can’t take it anymore. We’ve become so used to constantly working that we lose sight of what truly matters. Through this song, I hope to offer some support

Sam Saxton:

Sam Saxton is een singer-songwriter afkomstig uit de buurt van Haarlem en laat zich graag inspireren door artiesten als Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris en Carole King. Ze groeide op in een omgeving waarin ze beïnvloed werd door een verscheidenheid aan soul- en countryplaten. Het was met name de Amerikaanse muziek uit de jaren ‘70, niet in de laatste plaats omdat haar vader de Amerikaanse nationaliteit heeft, die zij consumeerde. Na een carrière in de topsport als hockeyster, koos zij voor de muziek. Onderweg ontmoette ze de Haarlemse gitarist Bas Kors. Als muziekduo reisden ze het hele land door en speelden ze op veel verschillende podia. Ze creëerden een eigen sound, werden verliefd en schrijven nu samen muziek. Medio 2023 verscheen het debuutalbum ‘TAKE A RIDE’.
